Club rules

Please can all members and spectators follow the club rules:

  • Riding hats must be worn at all times when mounted and be correctly fastened.
  • Riding hats must be to a current standard.
  • Appropriate footwear should be worn at all times. For example jodphur boots or long riding boots.
  • Riders should follow the guidance for riding in the warm up arenas.
  • Members and spectators will be polite and courteous to other members, spectators, committee members and judges at all times. This includes on social media.
  • Members and spectators shall not mistreat any equine in the showground.
  • Riders, trainers, grooms shall not use the whip, spurs or bit as a form of punishment
  • Schooling whips are not permitted within the jumping or fun arenas
  • Equines should only be in walk outside of the arenas
  • Junior Leaders should wear a riding hat and hard boots.
  • Any person leading an equine and rider should be a member.
  • The judges decision is final. If you wish to object then this needs to be in writing within 7 days of the show date. A fee of £20 is charged for objections.
  • Membership
    • Junior Membership is for those who have not attained their 16th Birthday on 1st January 2019
    • Senior Membership is for those who are over 16 on 1st January 2019
    • The Committee has the right to ask a member (or their parent/guardian) for proof of age
    • Family memberships are available combining senior and junior memberships
  • The Committee has the right to alter any schedule at their discretion.
  • Owners and riders (or their parent/guardian) are responsible for their equines whilst on the showground.
  • All equines must be under control by a competent person at all times.
  • The size, weight and experience of a rider must correspond to the size and build of the equine. If the Judge or a Committee member deems a rider to be overweight or unsafe that combination will be eliminated from the competition. A rider is overweight for an equine is the rider’s weight exceeds 20% of the equine’s bodyweight.
  • All youngstock must be handled by a competent person.
  • Equines under the age of 4 should not be ridden.
  • All stallions/colts must be handled by a person over the age of 16.
  • Any animal considered to be a danger will not be allowed to remain on the showground and may be banned for the rest of the season.
  • Equine passports should be available for inspection at every show the equine attends.
  • Dogs
    • Must be kept on a lead at all times
    • Owners must clear up after their dog
    • Liability for damage caused by dogs rests with the owner(s)
    • Owners must ensure that their dog is fit to be around horses
  • Season Awards
    • A member must have competed in a minimum of 4 shows in the season
    • Trophies will be awarded to the members who are winner and runner up in the points for each class.
    • Winner’s trophies are returnable at the end of the following season in the condition that they were awarded in. Failure to return the trophy will result in the individual (or a parent/guardian) being charged for a replacement trophy.
